- The glass ceiling: Institutionalised assumptions and biases toward a homogeneous [male] leadership style
- The sticky floor: Women’s own unconscious biases that form barriers to their succeeding in the workplace
While these issues are not gender-specific, they do tend to affect women disproportionately.

Glenda May is regarded as a role model for many women and actively mentors as many up and coming females as possible. In addition to mentoring she leads by example; with responsibilities as a mother and family carer, she attained and maintained seniority whilst working flexibly. She willingly shares her experiences to help women and is a staunch advocate of women’s advancement in the workplace.
Glenda’s focus over recent years has been as a mentor for women who find themselves battling the Glass Ceiling. Co-authoring with Jennifer Morris, she wrote “52 Ways to Break Through the Glass Ceiling”, a guide to help women overcome the structural biases and self-defeating attitudes, to take control of their careers, be courageous and trust their innate strengths as a woman leader.
Using the concepts and practices of Positive Psychology, Glenda works with you to help you find your passion, and move forward in your career.
